Kuća Sviba (Dogwood House)
This House is named after the Common Dogwood (Cornus sanguinea) which grows in this part of Europe. In this region grows in the form of a bush in warm and sunny places. It is highly decorative with red branches, and flexible and tough. Dogwood blooms in May (hence ‘Svibanj’: the Croatian name for the month of May) with many white flowers. The hosts did not choose the name of this House by accident. All the happy events in their lives took place during the flowering of dogwood that takes place in May, and the May in their stories is a combination of the south and north of Croatia.
